IDX Frequently Asked Questions
- What is IDX (Internet Data Exchange)?
Simply, IDX is a means for MLS participants to display each other's listings on their web sites
- How do I get IDX?
There are two steps to having MLS/IDX data on your web site.
First, you need permission to access and use IDX data from your local MLS. Procedures vary from one MLS to another, and we will work with you and them to meet the necessary requirements and complete any applicable paperwork.
Second, we can create a website integration application which allows your web site users to view and search the information.
- Does IDX mean that all the confidential information form the MLS will be available to the general public?
No. The information available through IDX is filtered by your MLS. This usually removes confidential information, regularly viewable only to realtors on the MLS system.
FAQ - IDX Solutions FAQ
- Do I have to do a lot of extra work to show IDX listings?
No. That's the advantage of IDX over other solutions. Whether you're a broker's office or individual realtor, IDX will give you great flexibility and resources with very little work.
In fact, using other methods to display only a few of your listings can be much more work than displaying all the listings on your MLS using IDX!
